Measuring Podcast Downloads

Buzzsprout tracks a download for your podcast anytime your audio file is requested from Buzzsprout.

Downloads in your Buzzsprout account are registered anytime an audio file is requested from Buzzsprout and streamed or downloaded for at least 60 seconds. This can happen when a listener plays your episode on an embedded player, through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or any other podcast app.
Buzzsprout uses the listener IP address, referrer, and user agent to identify bots and fraudulent plays. All Buzzsprout statistics comply with the IAB Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines 2.0.

Buzzsprout is IAB Certified (v2)

Buzzsprout statistic metrics have been officially certified by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) Tech Lab. The IAB Tech Lab Compliance Program ensures adherence and compliance with the IAB Podcast Measurement Technical Guidelines V2 for reporting podcast downloads, impressions, and listeners. These guidelines establish a common set of metrics for podcast measurement and a base set of principles for the industry to adhere to.
